The earlier Florida entries could be filed one by one because one lesson dominated each of them. Labor Day refused that simplicity. The water that submerged the corridor also destroyed the railroad. The years of quiet also helped create the institutional complacency that left the camps in place. The population arrangement amplified every physical outcome.
The convergence was not four principles happening to execute simultaneously. It was four principles whose individual executions amplified each other — the leverage enabling the system strike, the pattern exploitation enabling the casualty count that the leverage alone would not have produced against a population that had the means to evacuate, the patience enabling the pattern exploitation by providing the interval in which the institutional failure could develop.
The compound effect exceeded the sum.
So the Council Elder accepted convergence not as decorative theory but as the cleanest name for what had happened: several recognizable storm lessons meeting one another in the same place at the same time. The Council would not expect to use the designation often. But it had now seen it once.
But the Record now held the instrument.
